Labs · Independent engineering lab for music

A lab for people who care about the work.

Cyphermatix Labs is an independent engineering lab for complex problems in professional music and audio workflows. We take the problems people in music tell us about, turn them into small working prototypes, and put them in the hands of performers, producers, labels and promoters early. Our technology isn't designed to become the artist. It's designed to make the artist, performer or engineer more capable.

How the lab works.

  • Problems first

Projects start from problems working professionals actually have, not from technology looking for a use.

  • Built with practitioners

Invited testers from the Community use early builds in their own workflow. Their feedback shapes what we change and what we explore next.

  • Credit where due

People who contribute to a project are credited, with their permission.

See how we share

Two tracks: what you don't see, and what you do.

One track builds the technology under the hood. The other turns it into tools you actually touch in your day.

Track 1

Audio and music technology

The part you never see: software that listens to music, understands it, and gets that knowledge to wherever you work.

  • Audio analysis and signal processing

    Active

Hearing what's inside a track: key, tempo, structure and sound.

  • Machine learning and AI

    Active

Learned models, used where they clearly make things better, and left out where they don't.

  • Hardware support and integration

    Active

Getting that knowledge into the software and gear DJs and producers already use.

  • Streaming

    Exploring

How preparation could work with music you stream instead of own.

Active: we're researching and building now. Exploring: we're still learning about the problem before we build anything.

How it works, for engineers
Track 2

Artist and industry workflows

The part you feel. We watch how performers, producers, labels and promoters actually get through their week, then build tools that take some of the weight off.

  • Preparation and performance

    Active

Tools that aim to take friction out of preparation, so you step on stage feeling ready. SoniQ Pilot is the first.

  • Promoter and community workflows

    Active

How labels, promoters and artist teams look after their communities, and where technology can help without getting between people.

  • Creative tools for producers

    Exploring

Help with the studio chores, while every creative decision stays with the producer.

Active: we're researching and building now. Exploring: we're still learning about the problem before we build anything.

How an idea moves through Labs.

Every idea takes the same route, and the Community is part of every step.

  1. 01

    Listen

It starts with conversations: DJs, producers, labels and promoters telling us where technology helps and where it gets in the way.

  2. 02

    Build small

We build a small, working version quickly, on real audio and real libraries.

  3. 03

    Test with you

You try it in your own setup. We watch what you use, what you ignore and what drives you mad.

  4. 04

    Decide

An idea only moves on if it clearly helps. If it doesn't, we keep what we learned and let it go.

Every step you take part in is recorded in your contribution record.

Every AI feature has to earn its place.

Our design test: before an AI feature reaches you, it should improve at least one of these, without asking you to give up the judgment your work depends on.

How the lab sustains itself.

Cyphermatix is independent and self-funded. Some Labs projects become paid products, and that's how the lab keeps going. SoniQ Pilot is the first project on that path. Early access is free.

Starting with sound.

We started with DJs and set preparation, where small technical hassles add up to lost hours. The long-term ambition is wider: producers, labels, promoters, and anyone whose creative work runs on complicated technology, wherever technology can take away friction without taking away the person whose judgment gives the work meaning.
